Devils' Brian Gibbons: Trying out for New Jersey

Gibbons will join the Devils on a professional tryout agreement, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.

Analysis:

Gibbons last played in the NHL during the 2014-15 season with Columbus, notching five assists over 25 games. At only 5-foot-8, 170 pounds, the 28-year-old lacks the size of a traditional center, but makes up for that with good passing and hands that have resulted in a career plus-7 rating at the NHL level. However, given his limited experience and track record, he projects as a fourth-line forward if he gets signed long-term.
