Coyotes' Lawson Crouse: Looking to break camp with 'Yotes

Crouse will have fierce competition for a roster spot out of training camp, but he's confident that he'll make the Coyotes, the Arizona Republic reports.

Analysis:

Crouse is well known to followers of the OHL, where he spent the past three seasons lighting it up offensively for the Kingston Frontenacs. Last campaign, he fashioned 62 points (23 goals, 39 assists) in 49 regular-season contests. At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, scouts have been drooling over his size and strength, and he has good hands for a power forward. Crouse was selected by the Panthers with the 11th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, but was traded to Arizona for a pair of future draft picks. Ryan MacInnis, Laurent Dauphin and Christian Dvorak should also be lobbying for a spot on the Opening Night roster, and with Dylan Strome all but guaranteed a spot, Crouse has his work cut out for him. He'll be hoping that his team-first mentality gives him the upper hand. "It kind of goes along with the way I play," Crouse said. "I'm a very unselfish guy. I'll put the team ahead of myself anytime I'm on the ice and anytime I'm doing anything around the team."
