Flyers' Michael Del Zotto: On track for Opening Night

Del Zotto (wrist) is expected to be healthy for the upcoming season, NHL.com reports.

Analysis:

Del Zotto underwent surgery last February to repair ligaments in his wrist, ending his 2015-16 campaign after 52 games. The smooth-skating rearguard will be in the midst of a contract year with a chance to prove that he belongs in Philly and on a power-play unit. Of course, MDZ averaged a team-high 23:25 of ice time last season, and his offensive opportunities should be plentiful if he continues to see such a heavy dose of playing time in the upcoming season. Now 26 years old, Del Zotto has averaged 0.38 points per game in 116 contests with the Flyers, a rate that could rise significantly due to his projected pairing with second-year stud Shayne Gostisbehere.
