Capitals' Marcus Johansson: Issued qualifying offer from Capitals

Johansson was tendered a qualifying offer by Washington on Monday, Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post reports.

Analysis:

Johansson has another solid campaign as he tallied 17 goals and 29 helpers in 74 contests during 2015-16. The 25-year-old could receive several offers from other teams, which is why the Capitals ensured that they would not only get the chance to match any offer, but also will receive compensation if he does depart. Either way, the winger will want to secure a long-term deal that better reflects his value.
