Kings' Anze Kopitar: Will lead Kings for 2016-17
Kopitar has been named Captain of the Kings for next season Thursday.
Analysis:
Kopitar replaces Dustin Brown, who was stripped of the captaincy in May, as the team leader for Los Angeles. The center broke the 70-point mark for the sixth time in his career this year. In addition, the 28-year-old averaged an outrageous 20:52 in ice time per game including 2:45 on the power-play and 2:22 shorthanded. Given his clear leadership on the ice, it makes sense the organization would turn the locker room over to Kopitar as well.
