Hurricanes' Derek Ryan: Agrees to one-year deal

Ryan signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Hurricanes on Thursday.

Analysis:

Ryan's deal will pay him $600,000 in the majors and $300,000 in the minors next season. The 29-year-old made his NHL debut during the 2015-16 campaign, appearing in six contests while netting a pair of goals. He was the leading scorer for AHL Charlotte, where he tallied 55 points in 70 outings. Although it may be a two-way deal, fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on Ryan, as he could make the jump to Carolina full-time.
