Predators' Frederick Gaudreau: Could see time with Preds next season

Gaudreau impressed the coaching staff of the Milwaukee Admirals with his strong work ethic this past season, according to a recent interview with head coach Dean Evason. "Freddie Gaudreau was everything for our hockey club this year -- it's a tremendous story," Evason said. "From a guy that came to development camp and was a tryout when we signed him, and to where he is today...you hear the cliches all the time, the first guy on the ice, last guy off, works so hard, it's very true about Freddie Gaudreau."

Analysis:

Gaudreau was arguably the best story of the season in Milwaukee last year. Never drafted, Gaudreau signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Preds in January after getting off to a hot start with the Admirals, and wound up finishing third in team scoring with 42 points in 75 games. With graybeards Mike Fisher and Mike Ribeiro (35 and 36 years old, respectively) entering their final contract years with the Preds, it might not be long before the 23-year-old Gaudreau gets a shot at a roster spot. Those of you in keeper leagues, take note.
