Flyers' Shayne Gostisbehere: Scheduled for surgery on hip, abdomen

Gostisbehere will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair his right hip in addition to a procedure that will correct a bilateral lower abdominal tear, Tom Dougherty of CSN Philly reports.

Analysis:

Gostisbehere was invincible at times in 2015-16, his rookie campaign. During the regular season, he went 15 consecutive games with at least one point, setting a record for the longest such streak for a first-year defenseman. He also tacked on a pair of points -- including a power-play score -- against the Capitals in the first round of the playoffs. It's not clear how long it will take Ghost to recover from surgery, but he'll have the offseason to rest and get himself right for 2016-17.
