Claude Giroux appeared to be less than 100 percent in the playoffs and now we may know why.

The Philadelphia Flyers forward is set to undergo hip/hernia surgery next week, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Giroux managed just one assist as Philadelphia lost its opening-round series against the Washington Capitals.

Coming off another solid season for the Flyers when he notched 22 goals and 45 points, Giroux has established himself as one of the game's top forwards.

The good news for both Flyers and Team Canada fans is that Giroux is expected to be ready to participate in the World Cup - and thus also the start of the 2016-17 NHL season.
