Islanders' Travis Hamonic: Rescinds trade request
Hamonic has reversed course and is no longer looking to be traded away by the Islanders, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis:
Hamonic originally put his request in at the start of the season, citing family reasons for moving closer to western Canada. The news likely comes as a huge relief for general manager Garth Snow, who's no longer in the market for a top-end blueliner and can continue building on the success of the 2015-16 season. While Hamonic is not going to put up huge offensive numbers, he logs a ton of minutes -- 23:49 per game this year, including helping out shorthanded.
