Marc Crawford will be behind the Ottawa Senators bench for three years.

The club announced Crawford's hiring during Guy Boucher's introductory press conference Monday, and issued a press release with more details on the hire. Boucher's deal is three years long, too.

Senators owner Eugene Melnyk said in the release:

Marc’s extensive coaching experience in the National Hockey League and in Europe combined with his exceptional coaching skills makes him a coveted coaching asset for any professional hockey team. Marc had options and he chose to be with the Ottawa Senators and that is a reflection of what he sees in the future of our hockey club. He is an incredibly well respected coach and I am very grateful that Marc’s decision to return to the NHL will be with our team.

Crawford dominated the Swiss League over the past four years, going 125-47-28 and winning two championships. He's a Stanley Cup and Jack Adams Award winner, and has a 549-421-100-77 record as a NHL head coach. He's a career 43-40 in the playoffs.

The Dallas Stars were Crawford's last NHL employer, in 2010-2011.
