The Washington Redskins have learned the results of the MRI performed on Robert Griffin III's injured left ankle, but Redskins coach Jay Gruden has offered little clarity regarding the quarterback's status for the rest of this season.

Gruden added that the Redskins will know more "in a few more weeks," and have sent the results of his MRI to a specialist.

If Griffin does indeed require surgery, the young quarterback will likely lose the entire season.

Griffin will undergo X-rays and an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the injury to his left ankle. It is possible that there is a fracture which will require surgery.

A dislocated ankle could keep Griffin out around two months, while surgery for a fracture could cost him the rest of the season.

The Redskins hope he can return in 4-5 weeks, according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.

Backup quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 22-of-33 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns in relief of Griffin on Sunday.
