The New York Jets' quarterback situation appears to be in limbo, and owner Woody Johnson may have some regrets.

New York has yet to re-sign Ryan Fitzpatrick, as their 2015 starter remains a free agent. As the roster is currently presented, Geno Smith would be the team's likely starter entering the fall.

Johnson reflected on the team's previous drafts, and expressed regret over not selecting Seattle Seahawks star Russell Wilson. Wilson was taken in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

"We've had shots at them over the years before I got in, even when I got in," Johnson told a handful of reporters. "We could've drafted Russell Wilson in the second round. ... Great player. We've had shots at players, but we didn't take those. Hopefully, we're getting better at evaluating talent, particularly at quarterback."

New York whiffed on the entire 2012 draft as none of their eight selections remain with the team, a fact that Johnson alluded to.

"Probably not our best effort," Johnson said.

In any event, the Jets need to make a decision on a quarterback quickly, as the duo of Smith and Bryce Petty could prove to be an untenable situation at their most important position.
