Sherman: Goodell is 'just a suit,' ejection rule is 'foolish'

The NFL owners are meeting this week to vote on rule proposals for the upcoming seasons.

One of the rules, proposed by commissioner Roger Goodell, would see players ejected for accumulating multiple personal conduct penalties in a single game.

In an interview with ESPN that aired Sunday, outspoken Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman expressed his disapproval of the proposal.

"I think it's foolish, but it sounds like something somebody who's never played the game would say, something they would suggest, because he doesn't understand," Sherman said. "He's just a face, he's just a suit. He's never set foot on the field and understood how you can get a personal foul."

Sherman was also asked about his former teammate Marshawn Lynch, free agency, and "the catch rule." The cornerback reiterated his opinion of an issue with the process of determining rules.

"You've got a bunch of suits doing it, like I said before," Sherman said to explain why the league has had so much trouble defining what a catch is. "You've got a bunch of guys who never played. They've probably touched a football to hold it out or to shake someone's hand and take a picture but they've never played the game."
