Chris Johnson is headed back to Arizona.

The veteran running back has agreed to a one-year deal with the Cardinals just one day after completing a visit with the Miami Dolphins, the team announced.

Johnson will earn up to $3 million as part of his new contract, despite receiving an offer of nearly double that from another team, according to a source of NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Bouncing back after a difficult season with the New York Jets in 2014, Johnson proved upon signing with Arizona last year that he's still got plenty left to offer.

He posted an impressive 814 yards and three touchdowns across 11 games before an injury forced him to the sidelines for the last five weeks of the regular season and throughout the playoffs.

The three-time Pro Bowler's return for the 2016 campaign, along with the presence of electrifying second-year back David Johnson, will continue to give the Cardinals a strong backfield tandem to complement one of the league's most explosive passing attacks.
