Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said wide receiver Dez Bryant is progressing well after undergoing foot surgery on Jan. 6.

Bryant was hampered by a broken foot suffered during the team's season opener against the New York Giants. Despite the injury, he suited up for nine games, recording 31 receptions for 401 yards and three touchdowns.

"All good with Dez right now. He's making great progress," Jones told the Cowboys' official website. "He went to see the doctor last week, and we got a great report."

Bryant's prognosis will come as a relief to a Cowboys team that slumped to a 4-12 record - their worst season since 1989.

It was revealed earlier Tuesday that quarterback Tony Romo may undergo surgery to mend his clavicle, which he fractured twice during the 2015 campaign.

With the team's two most important offensive players returning to top form, the Cowboys ought to be a strong competitor for NFC East supremacy in 2016.
