Report: Philadelphia DA 'pushing back' on issuing McCoy arrest warrant

Over a week has passed since the Philadelphia Police Department concluded its investigation into an alleged bar brawl involving Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy and off-duty police officers, but it has yet to make any arrests.

Law enforcement officials tell John Gonzalez of CSNPhilly.com that the district attorney's office is "pushing back" against charging McCoy and three other men for their alleged roles in the fight, creating tension between the police department and the DA.

The incident, which occurred at Recess Lounge in the early hours of Feb. 7, started over the ownership of a bottle of champagne, according to a police report. Two of the off-duty officers involved were later hospitalized with injuries ranging from a possible skull fracture to broken ribs.

The reason the DA's office is hesitant to issue arrest warrants is because it has questions regarding the conduct of the officers, such as why they didn't call 9-1-1 during the altercation and how much they were drinking, according to Gonzalez.

One of McCoy's attorneys, Dennis Cogan, told Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News on Wednesday that his client did nothing wrong and was sober at the time of the incident.
