Report: DeMarco Murray's future with Eagles remains uncertain

Chip Kelly's exit from the Philadelphia Eagles seemed on the surface to relieve the tension between the team and high-priced running back DeMarco Murray, but things may not be that simple.

Despite Kelly's exit and the hire of Doug Pederson, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that the Eagles and Murray are headed for "a stare-down."

The Eagles gave Murray a rich free-agent contract after he led the league in rushing in 2014, but he slumped to only 702 yards on the ground in 2015 and feuded with Kelly along the way.

Murray has four years remaining on his five-year, $40-million deal, and it appears the Eagles may not feel he's worth the money - especially with the capable Ryan Mathews also under contract.

Rapoport reports Murray remains uncomfortable with the team and how the 2015 season went.

There are whispers Murray would like to manufacture his exit and head back to the Dallas Cowboys. Rapoport reports Murray is building a house in Dallas.

The Eagles have signed several players to lucrative contract extensions since the regular season's end. It's possible their next move will be to cut ties with one of their top-paid players.
