Colts hope to welcome back Peyton Manning in retirement

The Indianapolis Colts hope to cement Peyton Manning's legacy as one of the greatest players in their franchise's history when the Denver Broncos quarterback decides to retire.

Since being released by the team that drafted him first overall in 1998, Manning has remained amicable with the Colts, meaning a reunion would not come as a surprise.

Colts owner Jim Irsay says whenever Manning hangs up his cleats, the red carpet will be rolled out for him and he will be treated as if he was never released.

As Manning's career winds down, his post-retirement options become more of a story. Whether he signs with the Colts for a day in order to retire with the team he spent 14 seasons with, or works within the franchise's front office - like John Elway in Denver - Manning's post-career interactions with the Colts will be closely followed.
