Redskins' Culliver 'ahead of schedule' in recovery from torn ACL
Washington Redskins cornerback Chris Culliver is making steady progress in his recovery from the torn right ACL he suffered in a November practice.
General manager Scot McCloughan said Wednesday that Culliver is "ahead of schedule" after undergoing knee surgery towards the end of the season.
The Redskins signed Culliver to a four-year, $32-million contract in free agency that included $16 million in guaranteed money, but there's some uncertainty as to whether he'll be back.
According to Zac Boyer of the Washington Times, Culliver's deal included a clause that voided any remaining guaranteed money should he be suspended for a 2014 arrest, which he was. Because of that, Washington is reportedly no longer on the hook for the $8 million that was previously guaranteed to Culliver in 2016, and would incur just a $3.75-million hit if they released him.
