The New England Patriots lost the AFC Championship by two points to the Denver Broncos on Sunday and kicker Stephen Gostkowski believes the loss is on him.

Gostkowski missed an extra point try in the first quarter, forcing the Patriots to go for two in a bid to tie the game late in the fourth quarter. The Patriots were unable to convert and the game ended.

"I feel like I lost the game," Gostkowski told reporters following the game. "I feel sorry for myself, but I don't expect people to feel sorry for me.

"It's kind of a cruel reality that it came down to that ... I just feel awful about it. It was my fault, 100 percent. I just didn't hit a good kick."

Ironically, the Patriots introduced an initiative to have extra-point attempts moved back with Bill Belichick being a vocal proponent against the ease in which PATs have been converted for years. The NFL then moved extra points back to the 15-yard line at the start of the season.
