The Philadelphia Eagles announced a five-year contract extension for Zach Ertz on Monday, officially locking up the standout tight end for the foreseeable future.

Ertz's new deal is reportedly worth a total of $42.5 million, including $20 million in guarantees, according to Joel Corry of CBS Sports.

In terms of annual average salary, he now becomes the NFL's fourth-highest paid tight end behind only Jimmy Graham, Julius Thomas, and Rob Gronkowski.

Ertz had showed flashes of brilliance throughout each of his first two seasons after joining the Eagles as a second-round pick in 2013, but the 2015 campaign quite easily made for his most productive to date.

The 25-year-old finished the year ranked second among Eagles pass-catchers with 75 receptions for 853 yards, while appearing in all but one of the club's 16 regular-season games.

He'll remain a centerpiece of the Eagles' new-look offense going forward, giving quarterbacks a reliable target capable of attacking defenses over the middle of the field.
