Chargers fine Weddle $10K for watching daughter dance in halftime show

The San Diego Chargers placed safety Eric Weddle on injured reserve Monday, likely signalling the end of his time with the team.

Weddle probably won't leave on good terms.

The Chargers fined Weddle $10,000 last week after the five-time All-Pro stayed on the field at halftime to watch his daughter perform a dance routine in the halftime show.

Weddle didn't speak publicly about the fine, but his agent revealed the news Monday, which head coach Mike McCoy later confirmed.

"We have a policy here, and the situation took place," McCoy told reporters Monday. "It was the organization's call."

The Chargers led the Miami Dolphins 23-0 at the time, and a source told Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune that the message coaches delivered to players at halftime, which Weddle missed, was essentially "keep it up."
