Tony Romo: Set for MRI Friday, but likely out for season

Romo (shoulder) will undergo an MRI on Friday for his left clavicle injury after preliminary X-rays following Thursday's loss to the Panthers were inconclusive, ESPN's Ed Werder reports. However, a source close to the situation told Werder that Romo is "done for the season."

Romo fell hard on his left shoulder when he was sacked to the ground at the end of the third quarter, and it seems to be a foregone conclusion that he suffered a fracture of the same clavicle for the second time this season. The Cowboys aren't expected to formally rule Romo out for the season until after the results of Friday's scans are read, but his fantasy owners should begin the process of assessing other options at the quarterback spot. Matt Cassel came on for Romo in the fourth quarter of Thursday's game and is expected to assume the starting job for the remainder of the season.
