Colts claim Dan 'Boom' Herron off waivers

Chris Humphreys / USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapolis Colts claimed Dan 'Boom' Herron off waivers from the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, and waived running back Zurlon Tipton.

Herron was released on Wednesday by the Bills after playing in four games this year. The running back rushed for 37 yards on 11 carries.

It will be Herron's second stint with the Colts organization after spending the last two seasons with the club. The Ohio State product was waived/injured by the Colts in September.

Tipton was signed as undrafted free agent in 2014, but played sparingly for the Colts.
