Alexander will appeal his impending four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Analysis:

Alexander, a fourth-round rookie, has played nearly every defensive snap this season, piling up 73 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery through 10 games. Although his play has drawn mixed reviews, there's little question that he's been a useful IDP, and the Tampa Bay defense has really turned things around. Alexander believes his failed drug test was caused by an energy drink, but he also said that he blames himself for not being careful. He'll continue to start at middle linebacker while appealing the suspension.
