T.Y. Hilton blames himself for Colts' disappointing season

The Indianapolis Colts' season has not not gone according to plan.

They sit at 4-5, tied for first place in the AFC South with the Houston Texans, but with the rest of the division snapping at their heels, they are in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2011.

With quarterback Andrew Luck sidelined for at least another month, the Colts will look to quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and wide receiver T.Y. Hilton to lead the offense, with the latter feeling he has much to make up for.

"I haven't made the plays I really wanted to make," Hilton said, according to Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star, "especially with the record we have."

"Hands down," he said when asked if he blamed himself for the team's record. "Yeah. I know I have to be able to make plays to help this team win. And I haven't been."

Hilton has 43 catches, 703 yards, and three touchdowns this season, numbers than put him on pace to match his output from last year.

The Colts' struggles have extended far beyond Hilton not exceeding expectations after signing a five-year, $65-million contract extension in the offseason, with struggles on the offensive line, issues within the organization, and a leaky secondary among the issues they've faced.

Hilton's comments should be seen as a team leader holding himself accountable for the team's struggles, regardless of whether he is at fault or not.
