Dion Lewis: Suffers torn ACL, per report

Lewis suffered a season-ending torn left ACL on Sunday against Washington, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

With Lewis -- who had carved out a significant role in the Patriots' offense particularly as a pass-catcher out of the team's backfield -- now out of the mix, some combo of James White and Brandon Bolden will be called upon to help fill the change-of-pace void behind LeGarrette Blount, who is in line to do the heavy lifting in the team's ground game going forward. Per ESPN's Mike Reiss, the Patriots' current RB pecking order is now Blount, followed by White and Bolden, with Travaris Cadet a candidate to be brought back by the team as a depth option.
