Report: Cowboys release Joseph Randle
The Dallas Cowboys have released running back Joseph Randle, according to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The move comes just days after owner Jerry Jones said Dallas wouldn't make a "knee-jerk reaction" regarding Randle's future, with the team expressing concern over his mental health.
Randle had been away from the Cowboys for the last week after being excused for personal reasons. He was inactive in Dallas' Week 8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
The running back was demoted from his starting job and will reportedly face discipline from the league for violating the personal conduct policy for a domestic violence incident involving the mother of his child.
The 23-year-old never faced criminal charges for the incident, but the NFL announced it would be conducting its own investigation into the matter.
"I'm always concerned as to any issues regarding the (mental) health of a player," Jones said Sunday of Randle. "It's a lot more serious than the football (injury).
"We want to really be supportive and help when we can and not act in a way that looks like the priority would not be your health, but what about your job, what about your football team. It's up to me to kind of soften that and let him work."
Randle is also dealing with an oblique injury that forced him out of Week 7's loss to the New York Giants.
