Cowboys will consider QB change during bye week, says Garrett

The Dallas Cowboys may be making a quarterback switch when they return from their Week 6 bye to face the New York Giants on Oct. 25.

Head coach Jason Garrett confirmed the team will evaluate the position during their week off and may make the move from Brandon Weeden to Matt Cassel.

Weeden completed 26-of-39 passes for 188 yards and an interception in Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots, but Garrett said he never considered making the move to Cassel during the game.

After losing Tony Romo to a fractured clavicle, the Cowboys traded a fifth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills to acquire Cassel as an insurance policy.

The Cowboys fell out of first place in the NFC East after three straight losses and will need to stay within striking distance for Romo and, possibly, Dez Bryant's return in the second half of the season.
