Report: Falcons to sign Jake Long

The Atlanta Falcons are set to sign former No. 1 overall pick Jake Long to bolster their offensive line, according to multiple reports.

The Falcons worked out Long last week and apparently feel comfortable enough with his surgically repaired ACL to proceed with the veteran.

With injuries thinning out the Falcons' already weak offensive line, the Falcons have flirted with the idea of bringing in the former Pro Bowler throughout the preseason.

"Yes, somebody we still have talked about, for sure," head coach Dan Quinn said following the Falcons' third preseason game, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN. "And a guy we have lots of regard for. Not a topic that we've discussed with him in that length. ... I'll wait to see where we're at in regard to the injuries before we move forward in that way in terms of future players."

Long spent the first five seasons of his career with the Miami Dolphins before playing two disappointing seasons with the St. Louis Rams. When healthy, Long was one of the most dominant left tackles in the league.
