The Buffalo Bills are down to three quarterbacks on their roster. Whether they will remain that way through the NFL's 53-man deadline this weekend remains to be seen.

Matt Simms was informed of his release by the team Friday, Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News reports.

The move comes a day after Simms made a horrifically poor decision to throw the ball backwards in the Bills' preseason finale.

Simms was always a long shot to make the roster. He may have to wait until next offseason to latch on with a new team.
