The Dallas Cowboys will reportedly make a change at quarterback, with Matt Cassel set to start in Week 7 against the New York Giants after the team's bye, according to Ed Werder of ESPN.

Brandon Weeden, who has started the team's last three games, has reportedly been informed of the change by the coaches.

The Cowboys have lost all three games that Weeden has started.

With the bye, Cassel will have an extra week to prepare as the starter.

Dallas traded for the quarterback in late September to act as a veteran backup to Weeden, and to give the Cowboys another option if Weeden struggled.

Cassel's best season came in 2010 with the Kansas City Chiefs, when he started all 16 games and finished the season with a passer rating of 93.0.

Since then, Cassel has struggled to replicate that form. He failed to outplay Tyrod Taylor for the Buffalo Bills' starting quarterback job in the offseason, and hasn't thrown a regular-season pass since Week 3 of 2014.
