Report: Packers' Jordy Nelson diagnosed with torn ACL; team awaiting MRI to confirm
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson has been diagnosed with a torn ACL after being forced to leave Sunday's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a leg injury, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The team is awaiting MRI results to confirm the severity of Nelson's injury.
Nelson went to the ground untouched after hauling in a pass on the opening drive of the game and headed to the locker room shortly after making his way to the sidelines.
The training staff's initial diagnosis won't become official until test results are received, but the confirmation of a torn ACL would almost certainly bring Nelson's 2015 season to an early end.
The seven-year veteran has long been the top receiver in Green Bay's potent passing attack and is coming off a career-best season in which he recorded 98 receptions for 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns.
If Nelson is indeed lost for the year, Davante Adams, Jeff Janis, and rookie Ty Montgomery would see more opportunities alongside Randall Cobb as part of the Packers' three- and four-receiver sets.
