Eagles players unimpressed with Cowboys banner flying over practice
A banner supporting the Dallas Cowboys flew over Philadelphia Eagles practice during the national anthem on military appreciation day Sunday.
The banner read: ''WE STILL DEM BOYZ! SACKSCOMIN!'' The Dallas Morning News reported Greg Hardy paid $300 to help fund the project.
Hardy is suspended for the first four games of the season for a domestic violence incident. The 26-year-old defensive end is new to the Cowboys-Eagles rivalry after playing his first five seasons for Carolina.
Fans at Lincoln Financial Field booed the plane, and Eagles players weren't impressed.
"Oh, yeah, that was interesting," Eagles outside linebacker Connor Barwin said, according to Phil Sheridan of ESPN. "I had heard rumors about that. Obviously, it doesn't really mean anything at all. But we'll be ready when we play them Week 2."
Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson also wasn't happy, and vowed that Jason Peters would be ready for Hardy.
"A waste of money," Johnson said. "I think he's a hothead and gets carried away with himself. He's going to have his hands full with 71, I promise you that."
