Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd dislocated three fingers during Wednesday's practice and is expected to miss six weeks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

It was originally reported by Rapoport that he broke the three fingers. Floyd is still expected to miss the start of the season, with a timeline for his recovery ranging from three to five weeks.

Surgery went well as expected. Thanks everyone for the love and support.

Floyd recorded 47 catches for 841 yards and a career-high six touchdowns last season, and was expected to remain as a core component of the Cardinals' passing offense.

In Floyd's absence, downfield threat John Brown is expected to gain more touches.

Floyd was selected 13th overall by the Cardinals in the 2012 NFL Draft. The Notre Dame product led the club in receiving yards last season, while eight-time Pro Bowler Larry Fitzgerald topped the team's charts with 63 receptions.

A physical receiver who is best utilized against smaller cornerbacks, Floyd's injury could prove to be costly for a team with an erratic passing game.

The Cardinals host the New Orleans Saints in their season opener Sept. 13.
