Golfer John Daly predicts 2,000-yard season for Cowboys' Darren McFadden

Rob Schumacher-USA TODAY Sports

Pro golfer and cult hero John Daly isn't exactly known for a reserved approach to the game of golf (or life in general), so it should come as no surprise he has some "out there" thoughts about other sports, too.

During a weather-imposed break at the Open Championship on Saturday, Daly fired up a live stream on the app Periscope to field questions from fans, many of whom wanted to hear Daly's thoughts on his favorite NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Asked who his favorite player is, Daly was noncommittal.

"I love them all," he said, according to The Dallas Morning News. "(Tony) Romo is my buddy. I'm glad we signed Dez Bryant. We have the best offense line in NFL football coming up and Darren McFadden is going roll. He is going to have over 2,000 yards is my prediction."

Wait ... what?

Two thousand yards rushing would be roughly equivalent to what the oft-injured McFadden has rushed for in the past four seasons combined. It would be a stunning achievement for a player who has topped 1,000 rushing yards only once in his seven-year career.

Considering DeMarco Murray topped out at 1,845 yards (on an absurd 392 carries) last season en route to winning Offensive Player of the Year honors, Daly's prediction is about as likely to happen as Romo throwing 100 touchdowns.
