Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. on facing double teams: 'It's just not going to work'

Defensive backs have been warned.

Coming off the most electrifying rookie season a wide receiver has put together since Randy Moss in 1998, Odell Beckham Jr. is confident that the double coverages he's now certain to face won't be enough to slow him down.

"I definitely expect to receive a lot more attention," Beckham said after Wednesday's team practice, according to Jordan Raanan of NJ.com. "But it's just not going to work."

It's a bold claim from the New York Giants wide receiver as he heads into just his second NFL season, but considering the incredible rookie year he recorded in just 12 games, it's tough to dispute.

Despite missing the first four weeks of the 2014 campaign as he recovered from offseason hamstring issues, Beckham went on to tally 91 receptions for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Though it's an inexact calculation without factoring for matchups, a 16-game projection based on that stat line would have seen Beckham finish with an incredible 121 receptions, 1,740 yards, and 16 touchdowns.

Either way, the 22-year-old will certainly be the focus of opposing defenses' game plans for years to come. Whether that has any impact on his superstar trajectory is an entirely different question.
