Adrian Peterson expected to attend Adrian Peterson Day

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson continues to stay away from the team, but he'll be making his first extended public appearance next month ... at Adrian Peterson Day.

A family friend told Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press that Peterson is expected to attend the annual event, which takes place June 13 in his hometown of Palestine, Texas.

"Adrian will be there; that's the plan," Kenneth Abrams said. "It will be business as usual. We're a small town (of about 18,000) and everybody supports him, but I think it will be bigger this year."

Peterson was a no-show for the first day of organized team activities and a source told Tomasson on Sunday that he likely won't attend any of the other sessions, scheduled for June 2-4 and June 8-11. Skipping OTAs would cost Peterson a $250,000 workout bonus.

The Vikings also have a mandatory minicamp June 16-18 and have the option of fining Peterson up to $72,920 if he fails to show.
