AFC West Notebook: Elway agrees with Patriots' sanctions; Weddle's contract remains stalled

Denver Broncos

Bowlen elected to team's Ring of Fame. Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen was elected to the team's Ring of Fame on Wednesday. Bowlen will be honored during a ceremony Nov. 1 when the Broncos host the Green Bay Packers.

Elway agrees with Patriots' punishment. Broncos general manager John Elway said he agreed with the sanction handed to the New England Patriots for the franchise's role in 'Deflategate'. Tom Brady was suspended four games, while the team surrendered its 2016 1st-round pick and 2017 4th-round pick.

Broncos fan tattoos logo on his lip. One has to admire the loyalty of a particular Broncos fan, who tattooed the team's logo on his lip. Whether it proves to be a wise decision is another story.

Kansas City Chiefs

Hall of Famer Bell will earn degree from Minnesota. Bobby Bell is a Hall of Fame linebacker but made good on his promise to finish his degree at Minnesota. The 74-year-old graduated Thursday with a degree in recreation, park and leisure studies.

Fisher enters make-or-break year. Eric Fisher failed to live up to top billing after being selected first overall in the 2013 NFL Draft. ESPN's Adam Teicher breaks down why it's a make-or-break year for the the offensive tackle.

Colquitt takes on leadership role. Dustin Colquitt is going into his 11th season with the Chiefs, and mastered his role as a long snapper. Colquitt spoke about his leadership role Wednesday.

San Diego Chargers

Weddle contract talks remain stalled. Eric Weddle wants a contract extension but no progress was made on a new deal, according to Chargers general manager Tom Telesco. An irate Weddle said he wouldn't attend workouts until the team reaches out to him with a new deal.

Pagano focused on generating turnovers. Chargers defensive coordinator John Pagano said the team's putting an emphasis on speed and forcing turnovers entering the 2015 season. San Diego's 35 forced turnovers last season was the second-worst total in the league.

Telesco speaks about hybrid defense. San Diego's defense would nominally be described as a 3-4 front, but Chargers general manager Tom Telesco spoke about how it's more of a hybrid scheme.

Oakland Raiders

Del Rio raves about Cooper's versatility. Amari Cooper may enter the 2015 season as the Oakland Raiders' top receiver. Head coach Jack Del Rio was glowing about the Alabama product's versatility.

Graham thought he was traded to Raiders, wasn't happy. Jimmy Graham initially thought he was traded to the Oakland Raiders instead of the Seattle Seahawks. The star tight end didn't seem receptive about coming to the Bay Area.

Del Rio wants to bring swagger back. Head coach Jack Del Rio spoke about bringing the mystique the 1970s Raiders carried back to the current squad, saying that he wants to bring a swagger back to the club.
