Falcons sign Tyler Polumbus

Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports

Free-agent right tackle Tyler Polumbus signed with the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday, the 30-year-old confirmed via Twitter.

Polumbus tweeted out a photo of the Falcons logo with a caption reading "Made some incredible memories in DC and some lifelong friendships. I will miss it, but excited for the next chapter!"

The seventh-year pro is coming off an awful campaign with the Washington Redskins, allowing eight sacks in the team's first seven games. Polumbus was promptly benched in favor of Tom Compton, who also performed at a sub-replacement level.

Polumbus previously played for the Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks. It's unclear how he'll fit on a Falcons' offensive line that struggled for large portions of the 2014 season.
