<p>Former NFL quarterback <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/2615" href="http://www.thescore.com/nfl/players/2615">A.J. Feeley</a> says he personally witnessed <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/1333" href="http://www.thescore.com/nfl/players/1333">Tom Brady </a>and the <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/teams/3" href="http://www.thescore.com/nfl/teams/3">New England Patriots</a> using illegal footballs a decade before the "Deflategate" scandal. </p><p>In an interview on <a href="http://www.975thefanatic.com/teams/eagles/2015/05/13/aj-feeley-joins-anthony-gargano-and-the-morning-show-to-discuss-sam-bradford">97.5 The Fanatic</a> on Wednesday, Feeley said he saw Brady using broken-in footballs when the former was a member of the <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/teams/2" href="http://www.thescore.com/nfl/teams/2">Miami Dolphins</a> in 2004 - before the NFL altered its rules to allow quarterbacks to break in balls before games. </p><p>"Prior to what (Brady) and <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/887" href="http://www.thescore.com/nfl/players/887">Peyton Manning</a> going to the league and saying, 'Let us doctor our balls' we used to all play with the same balls," Feeley said. "Somehow this beat-up ball from the ball boy was getting thrown in on offense for New England, yet when we were on offense this orange brand new ball was getting thrown in."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Feeley said he was bothered by Brady's actions when he saw them and said something to the ball boy about it, but he didn't mention if he lodged a formal complaint with the NFL.</p>

<p>On May 11, the NFL suspended <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/teams/3" href="http://www.thescore.com/nfl/teams/3">New England Patriots</a> quarterback <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/1333" href="http://www.thescore.com/nfl/players/1333">Tom Brady</a> for the first four games of the 2015 season for his role in the "Deflategate" scandal involving underinflated footballs discovered during January's AFC Championship game against the<a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/teams/15" href="http://www.thescore.com/nfl/teams/15"> Indianapolis Colts</a>.</p><h3>Need to know</h3><ul><li>The NFLPA <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/764579" href="http://www.thescore.com/news/764579">filed an appeal of Brady's four-game suspension</a> on his behalf on May 14, criticizing the NFL's "history of inconsistency and arbitrary decisions in disciplinary matters, " and requesting the appeal be heard by a neutral arbitrator. </li></ul><ul><li>The NFL announced on May 14 that <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/764764" href="http://www.thescore.com/news/764764">Goodell will preside over Brady's appeal</a>, the commissioner invoking his right to do so as stipulated in the CBA. "My mind is open," Goodell said in a statement on June 2 when he officially informed the NFLPA of his decision to hear the appeal. </li></ul><ul><li>The appeal is<a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/772185" href="http://www.thescore.com/news/772185"> reportedly set for June 23</a>, and could also be continued on June 25 if the two sides need more time.</li></ul><ul><li>Along with Brady's suspension, the Patriots <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/762921" href="http://www.thescore.com/news/762921">were fined $1 million</a> and must forfeit their first-round draft pick in 2016 and fourth-round draft pick in 2017. </li></ul><ul><li>Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced on May 19 that the club <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/766891" href="http://www.thescore.com/news/766891">"reluctantly" accepts the NFL's penalties</a>, and will not launch an appeal with respect to the $1-million fine and draft-pick forfeitures. </li></ul><ul><li>Goodell spoke to the media on May 20, saying Kraft's decision to accept the NFL's penalties will have <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/767471" href="http://www.thescore.com/news/767471">no impact on Brady's appeal</a>. "I look forward to hearing from Tom," Goodell said. "If there's new information ...
