The New Orleans Saints continue to distance themselves from disgraced former safety Darren Sharper. As part of a makeover of Champions Square, the Saints will remove a photo of Sharper from the festival plaza, according to a report from John Simerman of The New Orleans Advocate.

“It’s common sense. We don’t even want the perception that that’s an individual we’re celebrating,” said Ben Hales, a team executive.

A banner featuring a photo of Tracy Porter running back an interception for a touchdown that clinched Super Bowl XLIV for the Saints included Sharper with a finger raised in the air right behind Porter.

With Sharper having confessed to the raping of multiple women across several states, the team wanted to eliminate any association with Sharper and will remove the banner. Sharper is currently in prison for his crimes and will serve at least nine more years.
