NFC North Notebook: Bears get complete package in White; Packers target versatility

Jerry Lai / USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to a special draft edition of theScore's NFC North Notebook.

Green Bay Packers

Packers target versatility. As Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel breaks down, the Packers' emphasis on adding versatile players was clear throughout this year's draft.

Randall a ballhawk. Quite familiar with the Packers' first-round pick after playing with him at Arizona State, Carl Bradford says cornerback Damarius Randall is always around the ball.

Ryan ready to contribute. Set to play inside linebacker for the Packers and filling the most glaring need on the roster, fourth-round pick Jake Ryan is ready to step in and put in the work to help the defense as best he can.

Draft Grade. Green Bay is typically one of the NFL's best drafting teams, but some curious selections near the top of this year's draft landed them the worst grade among NFC North teams from theScore.

Detroit Lions

Tomlinson up close. Including aspirations to be a neurosurgeon and a passion for his education, the Lions' official website takes a look at five things to know about first-round guard Laken Tomlinson.

Abdullah brushes off Bush comparisons. Though his versatility and dynamic play-making ability has drawn comparisons to now former Lions running back Reggie Bush, Ameer Abdullah is looking to prove that he's a unique player in his own way.

Carter brings physicality to secondary. Third-round cornerback Alex Carter fills a need on the Lions' defense, adding some size and physicality to the secondary.

Draft Grade. The Lions earned a decent grade from theScore for addressing some needs fairly early on, yet putting together a relatively average draft class overall.

Chicago Bears

Bears get complete package with White. Kevin White was already a first-round talent in terms of on-field ability, but his football character and competitiveness combine to make him that much more impressive.

Goldman looks up to Ratliff. Joining the Bears as a second-round selection, defensive tackle Eddie Goldman will now be competing with a player he has long modeled his game after in Jeremiah Ratliff.

Grasu, Long reunited. Joining the Bears as a third-round selection, center Hroniss Grasu reunites with Oregon teammate and close friend Kyle Long on the offensive front.

Draft Grade. The Bears didn't have many draft picks to work with, but the players they were able to find still managed to land them a strong grade from theScore.

Minnesota Vikings

Waynes' character impressed Vikings. Cornerback Trae Waynes may be a top talent on the field, but the Vikings were just as happy with the person they were taking in the first round.

Clemmings a potential starter? With a foot injury being the lone reason T.J. Clemmings slipped to Day 3 of the draft, NFL Network's Mike Mayock suggests the Pittsburgh product could be a rookie starter on the Vikings' offensive line.

Peterson's agent praises Vikings. Minnesota's front office stuck to its word and opted against moving Adrian Peterson in the draft, and the running back's agent now appears appreciative of the club's resolve.

Draft Grade. With some impressive talent and value added throughout, the Vikings earned the highest draft grade of any NFC North team from theScore.
