Report: Chargers haven't discussed Philip Rivers trade with any team

Jake Roth / USA TODAY Sports

It doesn't appear Philip Rivers is going anywhere.

The Chargers quarterback has been the subject of trade rumors since reports surfaced of his reluctance to sign an extension if the team moves to Los Angeles, but San Diego hasn't spoken to any club about a trade, Alex Flanagan of NFL Media reports.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network also concurred with the report.

As talented as Rivers is, he'll be 34 later this year and isn't exactly an ideal option for a team looking for a franchise quarterback to secure long term.

Rumors have swirled that the Tennessee Titans and Rivers could be a good fit, but cold water was recently thrown on that notion. For the Titans to land Rivers they would likely have to give up their second overall pick in the draft, and that would mean passing up the chance to draft Marcus Mariota, who could be a franchise quarterback in his own right.

San Diego continues to maintain it sees Rivers staying with the organization for the foreseeable future, and unless the Chargers get an incredible offer for the pivot in the next few days, expect that to be the case.
