The Jets will pick up the fifth-year option on Coples' rookie contract for 2016, the New York Daily News reports.

Analysis:

Coples has always been a player more about potential than results, and that hasn't really changed in his three NFL seasons. He reached a career-high 6.5 sacks in 2014, but the Jets likely had finer results in mind when they selected him 16th overall in the 2012 draft. Still, Coples is an uncommon athletic talent and won't be 25 until June, so the Jets have reason to give him another year.
