The Baltimore Ravens have selected wide receiver Breshad Perriman out of UCF with the 26th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

One of this year's most impressive physical talents, Perriman will provide the Ravens with the kind of big-play potential the offense appeared set to go without after the free-agent loss of Torrey Smith.

Inconsistent hands are one of the lone knocks against him, but a blazing pro day 40 time of 4.24 seconds understandably saw teams become more intrigued in him as a first-round prospect.

Perriman should compete for a starting role opposite Steve Smith, giving the Ravens a far more explosive passing attack to combine with their already dominant ground game.

Strengths

  • Ideal size and strength for a wide receiver. Will be able to hold up over NFL season. Body control and leaping are assets.
  • Speed. With an unconfirmed 40-yard-dash time somewhere between 4.15 and 4.27, he may be the fastest player in the draft. It's hard to know how fast he really is, but his 40 times confirm he's not just fast on film.
  • Consistently gets separation even if his routes aren't crisp. Major threat to take the top off a defense. Has to be respected by safeties over the top.

Weaknesses

  • Rounds off a lot of his routes because his speed hasn't been challenged by collegiate corners.
  • Hands are a question mark. Dropped eight passes in 2014, according to College Football Focus. Makes big catches, but drops too many routine balls.
  • Has to improve upon all fundamentals and will need the right coaching situation to develop into more than just a deep threat.
