The Arizona Cardinals have selected offensive tackle D.J. Humphries out of Florida with the 24th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Arizona was decimated with injuries at quarterback last season and were forced to turn to Ryan Lindley out of necessity in a playoff game.

Humphries' main job will be keeping 35-year-old Carson Palmer healthy. With Palmer behind center the Cardinals figure to be able to contend for a division title in the NFC West.

Jared Veldheer has the left tackle position locked down and Humphries should be a nice complement on the right side.

Strengths

  • Could be best athlete in his draft class but is very raw and unpolished.
  • Very smooth and efficient mover. Exceptionally quick feet.
  • Has the tools necessary to succeed as a left tackle.
  • Coaches love his mean streak. Punishes defenders.

Weaknesses

  • Won't succeed as a pro unless he learns to play with polish and consistency.
  • Occasionally allowed himself to be knocked off balance.
  • Questions about his durability. Battled injuries in college. May have improved draft stock by returning to college and proving he can stay healthy for a full season.
