NFC South Notebook: Buccaneers GM raves about Winston; Falcons forfeit draft pick

Carolina Panthers

Panthers host private workout for Gregory. Top defensive end prospect Randy Gregory may be descending down teams' draft boards after testing positive for marijuana at the NFL Scouting Combine. Apparently undeterred, the Panthers hosted a private workout for the former Nebraska standout Monday.

Rivera content with offensive line. Carolina's offensive line struggled immensely last season, but the team added a number of depth players in the offseason. Panthers head coach Ron Rivera hinted that the club would draft the best player available

Martin moves past bullying scandal. Jonathan Martin is best known for being at the center of a bullying scandal with the Miami Dolphins, leaving the club after reportedly being harassed by Richie Incognito, Mike Pouncey and John Jerry. Martin said he's moved past the incident and is looking forward to contributing to the Panthers. 

New Orleans Saints

Saints sign Evans to one-year extension. New Orleans signed guard Jahri Evans to a one-year extension Wednesday. Evans has been selected to six consecutive Pro Bowls, but he allowed the most quarterback hurries in 2014, according to Pro Football Focus.

New Orleans takes a chance on Wilson. Kyle Wilson's career with the New York Jets was a massive disappointment, as he failed to live up to his first-round billing. However, New Orleans decided he was worth the risk and signed him Wednesday.

Hill speaks about Graham's role. The Saints shocked the football world on the opening day of free agency, trading Jimmy Graham to the Seattle Seahawks. Graham's replacement in the lineup, Josh Hill, spoke highly of Graham's mentorship and overall ability. 

Atlanta Falcons

Falcons forfeit fifth-round draft pick, $350K for crowd noise. Atlanta lost a 2016 draft pick and was fined $350,000 for pumping artificial crowd noise into the Georgia Dome during home games. 

Falcons waive Motta. Atlanta waived safety Zeke Motta on Wednesday. Motta played sparingly for the club after being selected in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft. 

Quinn will plant referees at practice. Looking to improve his team's discipline on the defensive side of the ball, Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said he'd use referees during practices to help cut down on penalties. 

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Buccaneers reportedly waiting to select Winston. It's widely believed that Tampa Bay will select Jameis Winston with the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. However, the team is reportedly waiting to announce him as its choice, merely because the Bucs have the luxury of doing so. 

Former Bucs GM spied on Blackmon. Former Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik admitted to spying on Justin Blackmon ahead of the 2012 NFL Draft. Blackmon was on the Buccaneers' radar but slid down their board after spending too much time at a Oklahoma bar. 

Licht raves about Winston. Winston put together an outstanding pro day, and his strong performance wasn't lost on Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht, who raved about his outing
