Bills, CFL's Argos jokingly announce exhibition game

John E. Sokolowski / USA TODAY Sports

Exhibition games between NFL teams and CFL teams were once a reality, with six such contests staged between 1950 and 1961.

All six were won by the NFL, but the Hamilton Tiger-Cats finally broke through and beat the Buffalo Bills in the only CFL vs. AFL game in 1961.

Apparently, the Toronto Argonauts and Bills want to revive the tradition of inter-league competition.

At least, that's what the two teams joked about on Twitter on Wednesday morning:

A CFL-NFL game is virtually impossible today for myriad reasons - not the least of which is the major rule differences between the leagues - but it's a fun idea to contemplate on a far-too-cold April 1.
